Cassie: Review of 2007

Cassie has a way of looking at the world through her own colored glasses. She is forever walking around with a notebook of some sort and drawing very detailed tiny pictures of the world as she sees it. She can’t seem to keep a pair of pants in one piece for even ½ of a day. We seem to be patching her pants to try to keep up with her active lifestyle.

Cassisms
What she said: What she meant:

Apple Tortured

Apple Orchard

I can feel my heart beeping

I can feel my heart beating

"…'cause I come from Alavanya with a banjo on my knee"

"…'cause I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee"

I guess I have the "bless you's" today

"Cause I've been doing this all day (sneezing)"

A-sgusted

Disgusted

Complained that her boots were stuck together

She had left them on the porch overnight and they were FROZEN stuck together

Declan: Review of 2007

"People call me Ducklan, but I don't really like ducks. I want to be called Doglan, 'cause I like dogs"

"
Grandma Brown just got another new puppy and named it Chewy. I think her next puppy should be named Crunchy."

Elyse: Review of 2007

Quote: “My socks feel weird in my shoes.” This was said one day after Elyse and Cassie had poured as much bath oil out of the tub as in.

Elyse is in second grade and everyone in her class and her teachers agree that she has the best handwriting. Her teacher explained it by saying that she looks at writing words more as an art form and carefully writes each line and curve as if she were drawing a picture.

She loves to write stories and draw pictures, has a sarcastic sense of humor just like her dad, owns 2 bunnies (Cookie and Oreo), walks her sister to the bus stop and her brother to school, has joined the community basketball team for girls, attends a weekly kids club at a local church, enjoys helping our teenage neighbor girl make prank phone calls to friends, and is very curious about the world around her. Her love for science and math are evident in her fervor for cooking and sewing and she is forever asking questions about how and why things work. Not only asking, but then wanting to try on her own.

We recently went to an open house in an old factory that now is divided up into artist’s studios. We were able to go into each studio, inspect the art, and ask questions. In almost every room where Elyse was able to talk with the artist they would reply, “That’s a great question! Nobody has asked me that today.” She has a genuine love for learning.

It has been my pleasure to be her mother and to be able to pair her questions with answers about the world around her and how that relates to God’s love and majesty.

Please pray for her as she daily struggles with full body eczema, and with wanting to be an only child (she can be very mean to her brother and sister).
